I am obsessed with organization. like obsessed. It's taken me a long time to be ok with having my clothes in the closet without having everything organized by type and then color or size. Yep. that's me... a little ocd? I've finally let myself be ok with just having things organized by type. In my perfect world everything has a place and everything should be in its place. Mise en place. Being able to find anything you need in a split second? that sounds perfect. No more last minute panic when you can't find your __________. The problem with this is that i ALSO have the 'if you can't do it right, don't do it' mentality when it comes to cleaning. What that means for this little busy bee is that whenever there's a deadline or a ton of social engagements or a trip or ___________, my place becomes a disaster! I used to love that. It was so satisfying to finish up a project, send it off and then clean everything. Double whammy of satisfaction. I think i still love that to a certain extent, but this time around there was just too much time between making the mess and cleaning it up. It was overwhelmingly bad. I guess it also didn't help that I came back from vacation and had 102 emails to deal with and a boat load of photography jobs to run through. I still have a bunch. OVERWHELMED! hug me???
anyway... the boyfriend started teasing me about the state of my room. That's when you know it's bad. like real bad. i was terribly embarrassed but too overwhelmed and exhausted to get to it. I had once told boyfriend that when i clean my room i spend about twice the amount of time on dancing as i do on cleaning. He said he wanted to see it, but as much as i love him i was a little nervous for him to see that. no one sees me dancing like this. He suggested I do a video of it or a time lapse photography video. I didn't see how i could do it without an intevelometer and had no interest in spending $150 on one, but yesterday as the mess was threatening to eat me alive I thought I'd give it a little research and see if i could do it without one. A little research, some software procuring, some major trouble shooting and a lot of frustration later......
The other awesome thing about having a camera watching your every movement while you're cleaning? You don't take nearly as many breaks or give up. Well, I didn't. I was pretty honest with it. I took a break to go to the farmers market with Vince while my camera battery charged and I took a couple bathroom breaks. I think I paused the camera only twice and only deleted maybe 20 frames. Honesty! what's that?
there you have it.... i'm an organized mess.
